Maam Valley
The Maam Valley is a beautifully sculpted glacieal valley nestled in both the Joyce country and northern Connemara. The word Maam is derived from the Gaelic word “MÁM” meaning mountain pass. The valley is rife with both prehistoric and early historic sights along with more recent historical events. These include but are not limited to: Maamturk mountains, Maumean, Castlekirk, Clements lead mines, Keane's Bar, The Quite mans cottage, Maam courthouse (Maamtrasna murders) and much more.
